Sour RDA Coil in Bristol: the order shortlist
Sour in Bristol: 21 units tested over 7 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for Bristol.
Coil life, liquid cost and the sour habit
A sour RDA from the pre-order options in Bristol costs about £2.77 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
We run sour the same way in Bristol: same RDA, same 7 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the RDA you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour RDA really costs in Bristol
The honest read on sour: 21 units through the same routine over 7 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested sour in a RDA
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 2–4 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in the UK, which is 20 mg/mL for retail here.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every sour bottle shipped into Bristol.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 7 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Stock depth: 21 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where sour goes wrong
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long sour in Bristol survives.
- Assuming 20 mg/mL is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why sour tastes flat after two days.

Frequently asked questions
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the RDA units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
How long does sour in a RDA last?
In Bristol we measured 7 to 21 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
How much does a RDA cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Bristol: about £2.77 per 10 ml liquid plus £61 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
